| I went to walmart today and I could not believe it! There were plenty of parking spaces away from the store, but I saw several vehicles just idling, waiting for a space close to the store! With the price of gas going up and people just wasting it because they are too dadgummed lazy to walk a few more feet to the store entrance. NO WONDER AMERICA HAS AN OBESITY EPIDEMIC GOING ON! I like parking away from the store, always have. If the parking lot is completely full I will park at the first spot that comes open, but given a choice (even in the rain) I would rather park at the far end of the lot. I just can't get over the laziness of we americans. Plus the fact where they are complaining about the price of gas, and they turn around and waste it. I just don't get it. Babyphat42

I know this is an older post, but I hear ya! Of course,I've never been one to wait for a parking spot.I think it's just a bit silly and I have to laugh when I am IN the store and the person waiting for a spot is still in their cars I do cringe when I'm not the one driving and have to be subjected to waiting...a friend of mine does that and it drives me crazy.

Due to gas prices these days I bike to the coffee shop, instead of driving the car
My hubby takes it to work
We are saving money and I am moving
But the other day I went into the shop, helmet strap undone while removing gloves
This really thin lady gave me a dirty look... never mind I had not even broken a sweat. It is close, even walkable distance if I wanted to. The bike is just that much efficient.
I smiled "hey I'm saving on gas." And when I checked my account today... we have more money in the account, and I can smile all the way to the bank. And I am healthier to boot.
She's one of my neighbors, who could do the same I am doing... and a descent bike is not that pricey either.
As a culture, now that peak oil is here, we will have to change a lot of the way we do things. A side effect of it will be a decrease in obesity as people are forced to move more, by taking public transport, biking or walking, or a combo of all this. Hell, if I need to go downtown, I can combine a bike ride and a trolley ride. And if I need to do anything around here, I ride... don't drive anymore. And as my endurance goes up... I can regularly go to even more places.
:-)
And that will come...

| nadinbrzezinski, I know this is an older post but I wanted to say good for you! I also agree on the way we are making things easier and getting spoiled. We spoiled the fact that we didn't know we could feel this great about our selves, oh and save money on gas. Your doing great thanks for posting that it was nice to "hear". Jamie
